Over the last couple of weeks we have been looking at how we can best feed into the next generation, to equip them with all the tools that they need to be strong successful Christians. We have also looked at how we ourselves can be feed by those who are further along the Christian Journey than ourselves. The Bible gives us an illustration of this mentoring relationship with Paul and Timothy. Paul helped Timothy reach his full potential as an influential leader, and Timothy even though he was a leader of the church looked to Paul as a mentor, a friend and confidant.

In preaching this series I have realised that I have been missing an important part to my life, which I am committing to change. While I have said thanks to those people who have helped me along the way in my life, I have realised that I have not shown them the honour that they deserved from me. The people who have helped me to develop into the person who I am today should have more than thanks; they deserve my honour and respect.

Romans 12:10 helps us to understand what it means to honour one another.

Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honour one another above yourselves. Rom 12:10

Over the next couple of weeks I am committing myself to write to each of the people who have invested in me, to show my thanks, respect and honour.

Lord, Help me to show respect and honour to those who have lead and mentored me, today and always. Amen.
